Commonly unknown problems with Fluorescent tubes and CFLs
Mercury
EPA mandates that if a fluorescent tube or CFL breaks the building and A/C ducts need to be cleaned. More info at www.Epa.gov

The light
Only some of the energy is transformed to light. The rest is heat, UV and an unnatural light spectrum, as it is excited mercury vapor that causes phosphor to fluoresce.

If using over 500 Fluorescent tubes.
In a building where over 500 tubes are installed the capacitive and inductive electricity waves will be unsynchronized. A power control unit needs to be installed that synchronizes the capacitive and inductive electricity waves.

Defect rate of new fluorescent tubes and CFL’s.
Acceptable levels of defective new fluorescent tubes are considered to be 5%-10%. Led-O is less 0.1%

Questionable energy savings.
An inductive kick from the ballast to provide a high voltage to start the lamp to light the lamp is needed. If the lamp is installed where it is frequently switched on and off, the energy savings of CFLs and Tubes are very limited and the bulbs will age rapidly.
